Why Projetex?

First of all… what is Projetex? It is a powerful project management software system specifically designed for use in the translation industry.

Why use Projetex? GevaTrans has grown so much in the past year or so that it is becoming difficult to keep track of our projects. We decided that it was high time to buy a powerful project management system and looked at a handful of the most popular ones. Finally Dee and I made a short list of and downloaded test versions of a few of them. Projetex seemed to be exactly what we were looking for and we were both duly impressed. We asked around and spoke to people who had evaluated several project management programs with similar functionality.

We were not surprised to find that some people are exceptionally positive about Projetex and others are less so. The main criticism appears to be that the functionality is fine except the area of the software dedicated to Freelancers—as opposed to clients—is lacking and that it does not allow you to enter certain data that is deemed necessary. This is not the case.

It was clear that only a proper presentation and asking probing questions would answer the negative claims we heard. It turned out that these unfavorable claims were unjustified. Those who were disappointed had downloaded a trial version and tried to enter data but had simply been unable to find many of the wide range of possibilities for entering data for freelancers. Without exception, we found that those who find it lacking, have neither participated in a presentation nor bothered to consult the knowledgeable, competent technical support team to ask for help.

I participated in an online presentation and asked several probing questions particularly concentrating on the areas in the freelance sections that I had been told are missing. The bottom line is that the functionality is excellent and neither Dee nor I can find anything missing and even if we discover something at a later date, the software is flexible and fields and columns can be added where desired. The so-called missing functions are, in fact, standard functions and are already incorporated in the software. Essentially setting up Projetex is intuitive.  You just need to know where to enter the data and how. With speedy responses from their technical support we are rapidly entering all the data necessary to automate the entire project management processes from receiving a request for a quote to delivering an order and finally to invoicing and closing a project when payment has been received. However, we still have data to enter and need to customize all our templates, but we hope to fully migrate to Projetex from our old Excel based info sheets within the next couple of weeks.

The bottom line? We are happy to be able to report that Projetex was the right decision for us. The software has the functionality we wanted… and more. Extra columns and functionality can, in fact be added to the already very broad database. The technical support people respond quickly and professionally to our queries. The only thing that is missing, as far as we are concerned, is 7-day service and for longer hours than at present which is from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. It is precisely during the evenings and weekends that we find time to work on adding data. We usually need help during the hours when they do not work and so we lose those precious evening hours and days at the weekend when we have time to catch up on all sorts of issues needing our attention. If Projetex wants to become the market project management leader, Dee and I feel that technical support should be available around the clock, and 7 days a week.
